Beyond Scouts
Scouting doesn't stop at 14...
Scouts is the last section to run at group level but that doesn’t mean the adventure stops there! We are part of Cardiff East District, who operate 4 Explorer Scout Groups and a Young Leader Unit for 14-18 year olds and a Scout Network for 18-25 year olds.
There are volunteer opportunities available at all levels for Young Leaders and Adult Volunteers.
Explorer Scouts
Explorer Scouts is the next section after Scouts and operates at district level. Explorers is for young people from 14-18 years and continues to offer fun, adventure and #skillsforlife.
Young Leaders
Young Leaders are Explorer Scouts (14-18) who volunteer with a younger section. Young Leaders can be part of their own explorer unit as well as being a young leader, or they may just be part of a young leader unit. There is a Young Leader training programme to enable them to build the skills to assist adult volunteers in supporting a section and gain many valuable #skillsforlife. Many of our young leaders also volunteer as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. We welcome input from young leaders in every one of our sections, so please get in touch if you would like to get involved. (Please note that it is recommended to take a 6 month break between leaving the Scout section and returning there as a young leader, however there are volunteering opportunities in our other sections; Squirrels, Beavers and Cubs with the possibility to transfer to Scouts at a later date)
Adults
Scouting simply would not exist without our adult volunteers. It takes all sorts of skills across many roles to run our group (and wider Scouting). Find out more about how you can support the adventure, and what you can gain from volunteering, whether it’s two hours a week or one weekend a month, we can find a role to suit your lifestyle! We can’t wait to hear from you!
