84th Cardiff Scout Group

About Squirrels at the 84th Cardiff

Squirrels is the newest and youngest section of Scouting, but that doesn’t stop us from having big adventures! Squirrels get up to all sorts of activities, from visiting the police station, trying our hand at some African drumming and even having sleepovers!

Young people can start Squirrels on their 4th birthday and will move on to Beavers when they are around 6 years old. Our Squirrel Drey currently has capacity for 18 young people amongst four nests.

There are 12 activity badges to work towards, a number of staged activity badges, four challenge badges and the top award for Squirrels, the Chief Scout Acorn Award. As Squirrels earn their badges they are building valuable #skillsforlife

All of our sections are run entirely by volunteers, Bea is currently the Squirrel Team Leader and is supported by a number of other team members. If you think you could offer some time as a volunteer to help our young people, please get in touch with us.

Squirrels Uniform

Squirrels are instantly recognisable from their bright red jumpers. Upon investiture to the group our Squirrels will also receive a black and red necker, to show they are part of the 84th Cardiff Scout Group. The group also offers optional t-shirts and hoodies to purchase which can be worn in place of uniform for certain activities.

All uniform orders place via https://www.cardiffandvalescoutshop.co.uk/ will earn the group a commision on the order.

Any badges earned are then sewn on to the uniform jumper. The image above shows the correct placement of these badges. If sewing is not your thing, the group offers a badge sewing service to help raise funds to put back in to the programme!
